CLIENT : London-based TV company
OBJECTIVES : To bring a new team along to work in groups and to get to know one another. This was to be carried out in the environment of a team building event that would promote communication, teamwork and to finish it all off with an evening of fun.
THE EVENT : A film-making day at a country hotel in Surrey.
SUMMARY : The team arrived by train and were taxied to the hotel. The team-buidling day was to be held in the grounds of the hotel and all meals were provided including an evening meal and overnight accommodation. The team were taken back to the station in the morning and returned to work invigorated.
After breakfast the teams were given a briefing by an actor who presented the day and the objectives of the event. The teams were given individual tuition on the video equipment, a selection of props and make up. The task was to write a script with certain set challenges each group being allocated a unique film genre. The teams prepared their scripts and begun filming using many locations in the historic interior and surroundings of the hotel. A break for a buffet lunch allowed further interesting discussion. During the afternoon the filming was completed and tea taken at 16:00. The teams were then allocated a technician and entered the editing suite to put the final touches on their artwork. Subtitles, music and visual effects were added. Aperitifs were taken before the sit down 5-course meal at 19:30. At the end of the meal a Oscar-like awards ceremony was held and presentations made for various 'best' categories. The celebration carried on well into the evening.
RESPONSE : The party leader reported that everyone had had a tremendous day and certainly achieve their objectives. A DVD of all the films made was presented to the company.
