THE CHALLENGE

Raft building is not only fun filled and lighthearted, it is also mentally stimulating and physically challenging, with a lot of focus on team work, design, problem solving, trust (especially of those who tie the knots), communication, leadership and co-ordination. Failures in any of these could result in your team going in circles, adding a new definition to the meaning of sink or swim, or just testing the temperature of the water sooner than expected.

EVENT FORMAT

After a safety brief, an introduction to the limited materials available and examples of some of the techniques for fastening everything together, your tasks, within limited timescales will be to:

DESIGN : BUILD : TEST : PADDLE : DISMANTLE

A Winning Raft

(for a winning team)

THE RACE

A maximum of 4 paddlers and 1 passenger will be permitted on each leg of the race.

Team members must swap over after each leg of the race.

Treasure hunt and quiz tasks must be completed in order to progress

On completion of the race, the rafts must be fully dismantled, with all items laid out as they were originally found.

** TEAM TACTICS & CO-ORDINATION ARE ESSENTIAL **

RESULTS & PRIZE GIVING

Race results will be totalled up with the points from the other tasks within the challenge (and any bonus points), with the final positions being announced and prizes given to the winning team.

So it's definitely is a case of PADDLERS BE AWARE of the bonus points

The winners of the race, will not necessarily be the team that wins the event.
